JOHANNA LUCHT (ARTIST + MEDIA SCIENTIST)

Photographically I am not at all interested in certainties. Artistically I appreciate the gap.

While I wished for a long time to land in photojournalism, I now feel rather comfortable in redefining images, instead of defining representation. Identities, belongings and landscapes – they all invite us to speculate. Photography can be a dilemma.

Besides my artistic practice I create workshops on photography, art and media, where people can reflect on social issues – considering that we are located in a world of pictorial inflation. Thereby I hope to encourage participants to explore and discuss stereotyping, concepts of “truth” and the ethics in media.

Currently I manage projects for exiled journalists in Germany.

I love to collaborate – especially with artists, activists and researchers from different fields.
